Cheers to the New Year and my new All Is Fair In Love & Side Work Vlog!
That’s right - we’re starting 2025 with a glow-up! I’m excited to invite you to watch my first episode featuring hosting tips because whether it’s the holidays or every day, All Is Fair In Love & Side Work. I love gathering clients, friends, and family to celebrate with good food, libations, and music. So, tune in as we toast the year and check out some of my favorite hosting tips below.
6 Hosting Hacks
1. Give a favor that people will use. My guests raved over getting to take home a hard copy of my friend and client Chef Paola Velez’s cookbook this year! (order yours at https://www.smallorchids.com/)
2. Support local. I was thrilled to showcase some of my favorite local restaurants, such as La Plaza. (check out the menu at https://www.laplazawashington.com)
3. Be kind to staff. Especially during the holiday busy season - this goes for your guests, too.
4. Add handmade touches. A dear friend hand-painted food signs for my buffet that added a bit of holiday whimsy.
5. Get help. Hosting is much more manageable with a team, and I was grateful for friends who helped make the night a success by helping with deliveries, set up, decor, and breakdown.
6. Host post. The post-holiday party season is a great time to host events. Look for dates in mid-to-late January when the holiday hustle and bustle has slowed, and your guests can come and enjoy!
Finally, a very special thanks to Ivy & Coney, Fig & Olive, LaPlaza, Morton’s Steak House, Chef & Cookbook Author Paola Velez, BEM Books & More, Chef Kay, Mathilde Salmberg, Perla Campos, Perry Amati, Shyrea Thompson, Falasha Zuend and Daniel Pagel. Click here to view photos from the night!
